Terrific Book on Chakra Healing

This is a book that is well written with the reader foremost in mind. Many books in this genre often make the author the main subject--not so here. The tone throughout this book is one of invitation and restraint. Ms. Hausauer invites you into the world of Chakra healing but she doesn’t overwhelm you with jargon and esoteric detail. She has laid it out in an easy-to-follow format that enables you to first be introduced to the Chakra system as a whole and then to focus on each individual chakra. It is eminently useful as a manual. And it is chock full of good information. Ms Hausauer knows this system well and communicates it clearly. In a way this is a basic primer for beginners. The information is clear and practical. Yet it will be very useful to anyone already familiar with the Chakra system for the same reasons. Ms Hausauer gives the reader many ways to access the energies of the various chakras and to do simple everyday things to balance one’s chakras. She shows how a person can use knowledge of the health of their chakras in their life to enhance their joy in living—on all levels, physical, emotional and intellectual, and spiritual. One caveat: the lists of things one can do to work with each chakra is often daunting, but once you remember it is a list to choose from and not a list of items one should accomplish, it becomes extremely useful. Her approach to Chakra healing does not require you to completely revise your belief systems; it just asks for a recognition that the universe we all live in is composed of energies, including the energy centers in our own bodies. How fortunate we are to have such a clear explanation of the Chakra system and an invitation to participate in self healing presented in this book.

I have used this book extensively in my life for ideas, suggestions, and inspiration when I have needed it. I've worked with energy for many years, and this book is the most wonderful resource for me. However, I think it would be great for beginners as well, since it explains energy and energy healing in an easy to understand way.

The variety of ideas, suggestions and simple affirmations always give me a new way to try to work with whatever is on my mind at the moment. I always find something new to try in this wonderful resource.

Recommended for the anyone who drinks any amount

Once I reached the age of 25 I began to notice my hangovers were getting worse. I used to try drinking water before bed but that wasn't enough. I asked my Doctor and he told me to drink less. HA! So I decided to look out online for some cures and most of what I found told me to drink gatorade (which has a ton of sugar) and that didn't help. This book's advice actually works. I bought it before the weekend and got hammered Friday night. This was a great recommendation for people drinks any amount. I'm getting another copy for a gift because there is always tons of drinking during the holidays and I want my friends and family to function the day after dirnking.

Great hangover tips

This is an easy, quick read. Love the supporting links that take me to the source on my Kindle! Joey's tips are straightforward without loads and loads of repetition. Most of the tips are very simple and can be used without much effort, and it's nice to understand the science behind them. Like Joey, I don't encourage anyone to drink, but if you do, you can do it without the hangover. Thanks for looking out for us Joey!

Super Resource for PTCB, especially if you haven't done math for a while!

I got this book to self study for the PTCB exam. I started with Complete Math Review for the Pharmacy Technician by William A Hopkins... which was awful/frustrating.... by the time I got about half way through with that book, I was in tears and ready to give up on getting a license. I tossed it aside and got Math for Meds & PTCB Exam Simplified (David A. Heckman). If I had to do it over again, these are the only 2 books I would use/recommend.... (and possibly the book/flashcard system from pharmacytrainer.com)

I am a 40 something stay at home mom who is re-entering the work force and taking the PTCB exam solely through self study... and...
Yes, I passed my exam the first time. :)

I found this book to be incredibly easy to understand and I love the step by step explanations. I'm taking my first pharmacology class right now and was very rusty on my basic math skills and have never worked with calculations for meds. This book, thus far, (I'm still using it) has helping me understand class material much better. I recommend this book for anyone who is getting into the medical field and having to deal with math and dosages. It is a great learning tool.

Both analytical and numerical (computer) techniques are used obtain and analyze solutions. The computer calculations use Mathematica (version 7), and the relevant code is given in the text. It includes use of the interactive Manipulate function which enables one to observe simulated motion on a computer screen, and to study the effects of changing parameters.

About the Author
Owen de Lange is a Professor of Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His research interests include: electromagnetic theory, molecular physics, dislocation interactions, superconductivity and educational physics. He is co-author of two monographs: Operator methods in quantum mechanics, and Multipole theory in electromagnetism. The former book was awarded the University of Natal book prize (1994) and the Bill Venter/Altron award (1995) for research published in book form. John Pierrus is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has published research in the fields of chemical kinetics, solid state physics, molecular physics, gas dynamics and educational physics. His teaching interests include electromagnetic theory and classical mechanics at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The "Color Science Bible"

I bought this book for my studies in the M.S. Color Science program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. It is a very detailed and math-oriented view of many aspects related to color & color science. I've sometimes heard it referred to as the "Bible" of Color Science.

Bottom line is that it's a great reference book for detailed, mathemetical views of Color Science topics. It's not a very good book to read for general information or an overview on color science. I'd highly recommend "Principles of Color Technology" by Roy Berns as a good all-around 1st book on color science. Much easier and more enjoyable to read. The Wyszecki & Stiles is more of a reference book if you need the next level of detail after that.

The complete color science reference

I spent ten years as a professional color scientist in feature film post production in Hollywood, completing hundreds of theatrically released films. This book was an indispensable reference, particularly useful during the industry migration from primarily film to primarily digital acquisition methods. As the other reviewers have alluded, it is math heavy. It is also exhaustive and complete. If you really want to understand the empirical science behind the illusion of color, this is the book for you. If you are looking for a lightweight overview of color concepts, this is not the book that you want.
